Haier M92 75 Inch

Haier M92 Budget TV Review: Is It Big Value?

In recent years, the global TV market has been moving in a very clear direction: bigger screens packed with advanced technologies and smart streaming capabilities.

According to industry reports, in 2025 around 28% of all TVs shipped worldwide were 60 inches or larger, and the 75-inch segment is the fastest-growing category, expected to expand by roughly 44% by 2029.

At the same time, competition has intensified. Long-established giants like Samsung and LG still dominate the premium space, but they are increasingly challenged by brands focusing on high value at lower prices.

This is where companies like Haier are stepping in, offering large displays with modern technologies at a far more accessible price, targeting buyers who want cinematic screen sizes without paying premium-brand costs.

Mini-LED and QD Technology

Unlike traditional LED TVs that rely on a single backlight panel, Mini-LED displays use thousands of tiny LEDs grouped into multiple dimming zones. This allows the TV to control brightness and contrast far more precisely.

The result is deeper blacks, brighter highlights, stronger HDR performance and improved overall contrast.

QD Mini-LED also offers several advantages compared with OLED:

  • lower production cost
  • higher peak brightness
  • longer lifespan without burn-in risk

This makes it especially attractive for bright living rooms or HDR-heavy content.

Haier in the Global TV Market

Haier is a global electronics manufacturer with a steadily growing presence in the TV sector. According to 2024–2025 smart TV market reports, the company currently holds around 7% global market share, competing alongside brands like Samsung, LG, TCL and Hisense.

While Haier may not occupy the very top tier of the market, it has built a reputation as a value-focused brand, delivering large, modern TVs with competitive specifications.

The M92 is one of its flagship efforts in this category.

Haier M92 Overview

The M92 is a QD Mini-LED television running Google TV, and for this review I tested the 75-inch version, a size that is becoming increasingly popular thanks to falling prices.

Design

The M92 features a clean and modern design. A thin black bezel surrounds the display, while the lower trim adds a subtle premium touch. In the center sits a small Haier logo, and on the right you’ll find the “Sound by KEF” badge.

From most angles, the TV looks comparable to models that cost significantly more. The panel is 6.3 cm thick at the edges, but when wall-mounted it appears slim enough not to draw attention.

The plastic bezel measures only 2 mm, with the image starting 8 mm from the edge, creating a very narrow visual frame when viewed from normal seating distance.

Speakers are positioned along the upper portion of the chassis, which helps produce more balanced sound. The slightly thicker body also contributes to deeper acoustics.

Ports are located on the right side in a recessed 22 cm compartment, so if you plan a flush wall mount it’s best to connect everything beforehand. The power cable exits from the left. Overall, the build quality feels solid and premium.

Wall Mounting

Haier includes a zero-gap wall mount in the box. For comparison, similar slim wall mounts from Samsung often cost $120–$180 depending on size. For testing, I used a standard mount in order to keep easy access to the ports.

The TV uses a VESA 300×300 mounting pattern, centered on the back, which simplifies positioning. For tabletop installation, the M92 comes with two T-shaped metal legs, somewhat reminiscent of Sony’s stand design. The legs span 39 cm, so make sure your furniture has enough depth.

In my setup, facing a large south-facing window, the wall mount proved to be the ideal choice.

Setup Experience

Whenever I review a television, the setup process often reveals how user-friendly the platform really is. Here the Google TV interface makes things very straightforward. Unlike proprietary systems such as WebOS or Tizen, which attempt to mimic Google TV’s interface, this is the real Google TV experience.

During initial setup you simply select language and country, connect to Wi-Fi and sign into a Google account. Multiple accounts can be added, allowing each family member to maintain their own apps and recommendations.

Connectivity

The M92 supports modern connectivity standards while still including legacy options.

Connectivity includes:

  • Wi-Fi 6
  • Bluetooth 5.2
  • Wired Ethernet (LAN)
  • Four HDMI ports are available: two HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K at 144 Hz (one with eARC), two HDMI ports supporting 4K at 60 Hz

The TV also supports VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and AMD FreeSync compatibility.

Additional ports include three USB-A ports (one high-power for external drives), analog AV input, optical audio output and 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Google TV Platform

One of Google TV’s biggest strengths is its vast and constantly updated app ecosystem. Unlike some manufacturer platforms that require local partnerships to support regional apps, Google TV typically offers them immediately. The M92 runs Android 14, with access to major streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+ and Disney+, so no external set-top box is required.

Installing third-party apps is also simple. For example I installed SmartTube which allows YouTube playback without ads.

VLC can stream content from local network libraries with subtitles, and performance is strong thanks to a capable processor, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage.

Streaming

The M92 can stream 4K content from networked computers via DLNA. while using VLC, I easily detected media libraries shared through Serviio. Most Web-DL 4K files played flawlessly, although extremely high-bitrate 4K Remux files were more demanding.

The TV also supports DVB-T2 broadcast reception, with reliable signal detection and USB recording capability.

Remote Control

When instecting it, it looks like Haier put a lot of thought into it’s design, since it’s compact, solar-powered, and includes essential buttons such as source selection and channel controls. Unlike some LG and Samsung remotes that removed physical source buttons, Haier keeps them easily accessible.

The downside is that the remote is not backlit, and the buttons are relatively close to each other.

Audio Performance

The M92 is equipped with a 2.1-channel audio system with a power of 20 + 30 watts with a Super Woofer from the esteemed audio manufacturer KEF. In my opinion, the implementation of its audio technologies, with a thicker than usual TV body, provides a natural sound result, much better than those of the competitors’ flagship models. The result is deeper frequencies, immediately clear and voluminous voices, and sharp treble sounds.

The TV also supports advanced audio formats such as DTS-MA 7.1 and Dolby TrueHD, something not always available on competing models.

Testing Elton John & Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart” the combes melodic vocals with rhythmic, immersive music. The M92’s sound was big and deep even at higher volumes than usual, and on a scale better than that produced by the two leading manufacturers in the categorydemonstrated impressive depth and room-filling sound.

Likewise, Depeche Mode’s live performance of “Enjoy The Silence” sounded larger and more immersive than expected from a built-in TV system. I isolated the sound component from the image, which I will refer to later, and the sound on the M92 surprised again and reminded me that you don’t have to pay huge sums for a TV to get quality sound from it.

To summarize the audio experience section, I was surprised to discover that the sound quality on the M92 was better than that of competing manufacturers that lead the category. However, it is not a sound that eliminates the need for a soundbar to complete the experience.

Picture Quality

The M92 has several preset picture modes, which you can switch between manually:

  • Vivid: The equivalent of Dynamic on other TVs. This is the picture in which the colors are enhanced and the contrast is stronger. Suitable for viewing in bright lighting
  • Default: Equivalent to the normal mode, recommended for everyday home use
  • Energy Saving: Provides a darker picture, suitable for those who care about saving electricity
  • Movie: Suitable for watching movies in a dark space
  • Sports: Suitable for sports programs that require enhanced image processing and dynamic contrast
  • Game: Suitable for online games that require minimal latency

Its’ menu allows control over a wide range of parameters, so that the image can be made more natural. Haier provides an added value of artificial intelligence, since to improve the audio and image it combines the following features:

  • AI Color Boost Pro: to improve the depth of colors, for a richer image
  • AI-HDR Enhancer Pro: to optimize the details and contrast in scenes with dark areas
  • AI-Motion: to improve the smoothness of the image in scenes with extremely fast movement
  • AI-Depth: to improve the focus and sharpness of images
  • AI-SR: to improve low-resolution video

Brightness is a strong point since the TV delivers roughly 600 nits across the panel and 1,300 nits peak brightness at 20% HDR window. This level of brightness makes it suitable even for well-lit rooms. Color coverage reaches 94% of the DCI-P3 color space.

An AI processor dynamically optimizes picture, sound, and gaming performance frame by frame. Mini-LED local dimming zones help separate bright and dark elements effectively, improving HDR performance across HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision content.

HDR 10+ support
HDR 10+ support

I opened the viewing experience with “One battle after another” which at first glance looks like it was directed by Martin Scorsese. If you were looking for a particularly long and engaging film, you’ve found it. The HDR worked overtime throughout the film, and as an example, the following scene, in which DiCaprio is walking around, the sun in his face, and a black shadow on his shoulder, is a great example. The M92 did an excellent job of isolating similar light and shadow conditions, as well as preventing motion blur in scenes that incorporate horizontal or vertical movement.

I switched on to “Good Fortune”, the film that proves even angels can be wrong. Watching it demonstrates how HDR enhances so many scenes. In the next scene, you can see how white Keanu Reeves’ shirt is, while St. Rogan’s jacket is black as black. The M92 presented the scene successfully.

I ended with “Roofman”, which demonstrates once again that sometimes the prison escape scene can be the most interesting part of a film. Here too, the TV delivered what was requested, displaying natural colors and handling fast movements without any difficulty.

Reflections and Bright Room Performance

Since I placed the M92 in front of a particularly large window facing south, I was impressed by its ability to deal with reflections. While watching content, the reflections are only noticeable if the part of the screen that receives the reflected light is darkened. If the reflection reaches the area where the screen is brightly lit, the reflection of the lighting fixture is almost non-existent. Since the maximum brightness is very strong, I did not find it necessary to place the M92 in a dark space with blinds and curtains to enjoy the depth of colors.

Conclusion

The Haier M92 demonstrates that lesser-known brands can deliver impressive technology in large-screen televisions. A 75-inch QD Mini-LED panel, 144 Hz refresh rate, FreeSync support, Google TV, solar-powered remote, and KEF-tuned audio combine to create a feature set that covers most users’ needs.

For anyone looking for a large 75-inch TV with modern display technology and strong smart features, the M92 offers excellent value, especially in markets where large premium TVs are heavily taxed.
